Our 7 week throwing course is a great introduction to working with clay for total beginners or intermediate on the wheel. This course includes learning different techniques including wedging, centering, shaping, pulling and working with different tools to create a variety of different forms. You will also learn different glazing techniques using colourful underglaze and glazes in the final week of this course. By the end of the course you will have a selection of beautiful thrown ceramics to take home with you.

During the 7 week beginners throwing course. ✨You will learn:

Week 1: Wedging and preparing the clay for throwing. The basics of throwing how to centre the clay and making cylinders.

Week 2: Trimming/ Turning your cylinders to then put handles on to transform your pots into mugs!

Week 3: Bowl week, focusing on techniques to create rounded and slightly larger forms.

Week 4: Trimming/turning previous weeks bowls.

Week 5: 'How big can you throw?' - a chance to make bigger pieces such as plates, pasta bowls & vases or if you have any of your own ideas e.g making 4 matching mugs.

Week 6: Trimming/turning previous weeks work.

Break week to allow for pots to go in the kiln.

Week 7: Glazing and decorating all your glorious pieces.

4 person class size so plenty of one to one tutelage!

Please note -there is a weeks break in-between week 6 and 7 to allow for pieces to be fired.

  • Very important to have trimmed nails.

Collections, Cancellations and Refunds:

  • You can come collect your pots usually just a couple weeks after your course ends. Please note, we only hold on to your pots 3 months maximum after the 6 week period.

  • We can also arrange for your pots to be posted to you for a fee starting at £6.50. Please email us with your address, photo of your pot and the date and name of the course you attended.

  • We have a 14 day cancellation period - we do not do refunds or re-schedule within 14 days prior to your course.

  • Participants must be over the age of 18.

Our 7 Week Introduction to Throwing course runs for 7 weeks with a break in-between week 6 and 7 to allow for your pots to dry and fire.
